Day 6 and 7 - Panels attached!

(Originally posted July 13th, 2013)

I spent yesterday and today attaching the remainder of the panels.  I didn't get them to the exact millimeter, but a little trimming with the skilsaw and some scoring with the Surform shaver helped bring the panels into alignment.

There's some slight bowing along the length of the panels which I'll probably take care of by shaping some angled pieces and placing them in the interior.  Or, maybe the process of reinforcing them with fiberglass tape will help on the inside (while subsequently applying masking tape to the gaps on the outside) will bring them into alignment with each other.

And, I achieved the much-talked-about x-factor (twist in the front panels)!  Wee!

Also, yesterday, I went to a place in Seattle called TAP Plastics where I got a nice lesson in fiberglassing from the helpful staff, and picked up appropriate supplies.

Not sure what else I'll get done today; should probably let the glue cure and have a glass of wine.  Later this evening or tomorrow morning I'll cut and sand the excess panel lengths from the top and bottom of the skirt.

But yay!  Another step in the process done!
